Hi, my name is Tony Southland and I’m here to pass on some great Interior Design Ideas on demand! I have been involved in the building, renovating, re-decorating, restoration and interior design business for almost twenty years. So as you will imagine I have a lot to say about matters concerning interior design. There is a good deal of rubbish written and published on the topic, so we won’t be going there! However I can say there are some excellent people out there contributing some worthwhile additions to the “font of knowledge” that is interior design. When it is appropriate I will be pointing you in the direction of some of these people who come up with great tips, hints & advice. So look out for these guest blogs.
In this modest blog of mine I am really trying to get in front of ordinary people who are perhaps investigating interior design for the first time. You certainly do not have to be an expert or have any in depth knowledge to follow the posts on this blog. I just want to de-mystify the industry and present some simple and well thought out ideas that you might find interesting.
The term ‘Interior Design’ may conjure up visions in your mind of luxury and a price tag that is equally matched! Possibly way out of your price range you might think. Don’t let yourself get caught up in all those professional views of interior design I was talking about before. The mystification of the industry by a few self-seeking individuals. As I said my aim is to put you at ease and de-mystify everything. Interior design has something to offer for everyone, including a novice, if that is you? Use the tips in the website to your advantage and you will see what interior design has to offer for you!
A Few Quick Interior Design Tips
When choosing colours for your interior design ideas, avoid going with the current fads. Olive green walls and avocado bathroom suites may have been popular once upon a time, but it can make your home look dated now. Go for neutral colours instead, that can withstand the test of time. That way, you would not feel like you have to repaint every year. This is especially true when it comes time for you to sell your house.
Try to incorporate a “warm feeling” in one of the main reception rooms in your house. This is an important area for you to have so that you can relax after a long day at work. Use tranquil, soothing and calming colours in this room and try to include a focal point. Preferably not a TV, something like a fireplace would be good.
Think About Interior Design As A Project
When considering an interior design project you should perhaps think about starting in the most popular room of the house. This is true if it is your first major interior design project. Interior design ideas for your project can be a lot of hard work as well as costing a lot of money as well, if you do not plan properly. So a good option if you want to get the most out of your work and your budget, is to decorate the room that you will enjoy the most first. Seems a sensible idea doesn’t it.
If you feel that the interior design ideas you are craving don’t come to you easily, don’t panic, it’s normal. Stop thinking about your project to deeply. Go out and gather ideas for yourself. Many of the designer shops and showrooms are actually designed by interior designers so use their work to inspire you. If you don’t feel like visiting showrooms, then look at different interior design books, home decorating and designing magazines or use the Internet as inspiration. You have loads of options to help get you started.
As you can see, there are many ways to approach interior design ideas. You don’t have to hire a professional or pay for luxury items to make your home appealing for you and your family. Stick with this blog as I build it up and I will give you lots of interior design ideas for pretty much every room in the house.
